GIRL’S GET LOST WEEKEND

I love my husband, but I am also big fan of having our own time away. A couple of months ago, Brett headed to Rainbow Beach to have a weekend away with some friends. Last weekend it was my turn for a Girl’s Weekend and what a weekend it was! Anyone that knows me, knows that I like to be organised, so check out the itinerary below to see what I had planned. It was our Girl’s Get Lost Weekend!

Saturday

First up, we all met at the scenic town of Coolum on the Sunshine Coast. We went our own way or with each other doing various things including coffee, massages, shopping and Op Shopping. Mum and I had the Asanta Sokoto Ritual at Asanta Day Spa. It was 75 minutes of total and utter relaxation. We were treated to a therapeutic massage, foot exfoliation and massage, followed by a heated towel hydration foot wrap (so good!), finally finishing with a Moroccan head and scalp massage. Mum also unexpectedly ran into someone she knew from 25 years ago, so they had a catch up about the “Good Old Days”.

After our morning at Coolum, we headed to our Air BnB to settle in. The house welcomed us with aromatic scents from diffusers, offering a spacious lounge, a fully-equipped kitchen, and an outdoor haven with a gazebo and pool. We relaxed for a while and then it was time for yoga. Susanne from Mindfulness in Movement came to the house, and we had a relaxing yoga session. Feeling very calm and stress free we cooked up some homemade pizzas for dinner and finished the night with some games. I can highly recommend the Fish Bowl Game, check it out if you’ve never played it. It’s online, free, easy to learn and a hoot.

Sunday

Sunday morning, my bestie and I decided to go for a walk. About 100 metres down the road, “apparently” she said “wait should I grab my phone?”. “Apparently” I said “No, it’s a Girl’s Get Lost Weekend, let’s just go with it”. We started walking and making notes of landmarks to remember where we were going, then we got chatting and chatting and chatting. We had a great time then started to head back…. except we may have been too distracted chatting to remember all those landmarks we were meant to take note of. We wound our way back to where we thought we came from. Then we doubled back. Then we headed another way we thought we needed to go. Then we doubled back again. Finally, we came to the conclusion that, yep, we were actually lost! In the end we had to ask a stranger where we were and how to get back. It turns out we were only a few streets away. We both thought it was hilarious. The rest of the crew didn’t even blink an eye when we returned, having no idea of the adventure we had just been on. The good news was brekky was almost ready!

After breakfast, we headed out for the main event. The Girl’s Get Lost Card Game. This game is created in New Zealand and is so much fun. They have other editions, so even if you aren’t on a Girl’s Weekend, there is something for everyone. Our first card was to go to an Op Shop and dress each other up. This was such a hoot, and the outfits were spectacular (not in a good way!). We secretly bought outfits for each other and headed to the change rooms at the beach to put them on. We definitely got some looks from the people around us. I don’t want to give away all the cards, because it’s more fun if you don’t know what to expect but we ended up having a drink at the Surf Club, I had to ask a man to allow me to borrow his cowboy hat for a photo, there was some random dancing, following cars and turning down particular street names. All while dressed in particularly bad clothes.

After our fun and games, we headed back to the house for a mindful Neurographica activity. We mindfully created curves and lines and coloured them in to create some interesting artwork. Another homemade meal followed by more games and a few drinks before turning in after a massive day of fun and laughter.

Monday

Pancakes for breakfast followed by a “Holy Crap we didn’t realise how late it was!” rush to clean up and get out the door for our tattoo session. The young girls went shopping and the older girls got some tattoos. Queenie was an absolute delight! Her studio was funky, she was so lovely, and her work is beyond amazing. We got some very special memories that will be with us forever.

After that, it was time to part ways and head home. Our minds relaxed, our hearts full and with some memories to last a lifetime. I can’t recommend enough to make sure you take time out with friends and family and spend quality time looking after yourselves. The Girl’s Get Lost Weekend was a perfect blend of relaxation, adventure, and bonding—a testament to the rejuvenating power of spending quality time with friends and family. This weekend, I am back into renovations.
