We’d like you to meet our travelling family!

Betsy

Betsy is our BT50. Brett was the one that had more of an idea of what car we needed for towing and did plenty of research. We narrowed it down to an Isuzu DMax, a BT50 or a Ford Ranger and then started the search. We found Betsy st the Sunny Coast. She is a 2019 model, still under warranty. She has an AGM battery, solar that’s never been hooked up and some awesome draws in the back. Her previous owner had been a cabinet maker so he did an excellent job.

I LOVE driving her. It’s been a while since I owned a manual car and I wasn’t sure if I’d get frustrated by changing gears, but I didn’t need to worry, she is fantastic to drive. A little big for some parking spots and I have not attempted a reverse park yet but I still love taking her out. The first time we filled the diesel up, I nearly died! She’s got a big tank and it took a LOT to fill her up.

Milton

Milton is our caravan. Firstly, I have to say that Brett did NOT want to name the car or the van. But I just ignored that. I did have a name for it that I loved and then Brett sarcastically said “Milton” as that is what he sometimes calls Cooper, our dog (don’t ask me why). Anyway, as soon as he said it I loved it. Milton- Mobile hILTON! Couldn’t be more perfect so Milton it was.

We started searching for a van and within a few weeks we found Milton, he was within our budget and just happened to be just around the corner from my parent’s place. That reminds me, I still owe mum the deposit she took around to secure him.

Milton is a 2012 Coromal and is a little old school with the wooden look and we may eventually do him up, but for now, he will be just fine. He has a shower/toilet, queen island bed, stove, grill, and 3-way fridge and seems to have plenty of storage. We’ll see about the storage when we do longer trips but for now, it seems plenty. We took out the AGM battery and put in 2 Lithium batteries. Solar will come soon too.

We have a towing course booked for February so we can really learn how to drive, load and manage Milton.
