ROAD-TRIPPING TECHIES: TRAVEL ADVENTURES AND GEEKY TIDBITS

We’ve had a few new followers to our blog and social media pages so we thought we would update everyone on who we are and what we are about. You may have noticed that our blog consists of our Gap Year travels, IT Advice (although it has been a while!) and then there were some reno updates (just because we were renovating and family and friends were interested in our progress).

We are Brett and Kirsty and long story short we are having a Gap Year in our 40’s now that our children have moved out of home and started their own lives. We are travelling with Besty (our BT50) and Milton (our caravan or Mobile hILTON). You might wonder why we mix our travel stories with IT advice on our blog. The answer is simple: it’s what we know and love.

Our travel blogs and videos are a bit like a digital scrapbook that captures our journey and documents our memories. This way we can look back on our amazing Gap Year and remember all those awesome places. With so many different stops, it is easy to forget where we’ve been and the adventures we had along the way. It’s also a great way to allow family and friends to be part of our journey. They get to see where we’ve been, and what we’ve been up to and interact with our journey along the way. It makes us less homesick when we are communicating regularly. We have chosen to make our blog and social media public so anyone can follow along if they are interested. But it isn’t something that we are monetising. Mainly, because we don’t have the time or energy to ensure our content is professional and regular. We admire travel bloggers who put immense effort into creating professional and engaging content. We know how much work goes into our little blog and videos, and we can only imagine the dedication required to achieve their level of polish. We love watching their journeys and think what they do is amazing. The travelling community on social media is a great community to be part of and we love seeing other’s stories (both professional and others like us) and love that we can share where we’ve been and what we’ve done with others if they find it useful or interesting. We just don’t have the time (or energy) to put quite that much love into our own content.

As for the IT advice side of things….. With close to 40 years of experience in the IT industry between us, we often find ourselves offering advice and guidance on various IT issues to family and friends, so we thought, why not share some of our knowledge here? Also, we don’t need to give the same advice 10 times, we can just point them to our articles. Although we’ve been a bit slack lately, we have a list of topics we want to address in the near future.

We plan on continuing to document our travels, provide some more IT Advice and explain how we can afford to take a Gap Year. So if you would like to follow our Gap Year journey, or would like some practical IT Advice, feel free to follow along or share with those who might be interested. If we aren’t suited to your taste, that is fine just scroll on by. We won’t even know! However, if you are following along, please comment and reach out to us to be part of our little community, we’d love to hear from you!
