We embarked on a journey to revitalise our downstairs space, transforming it from a neglected area into a more functional and welcoming part of our home. Despite the initial challenges, the results have been truly rewarding.

Ceiling Addition

We added a ceiling to the room we finished a few months ago covering the exposed beams. It wasn’t something we thought we had time for, but my dad insisted on doing it. Well almost doing it, he did all the hard stuff then had to head to NSW to visit family, so I got stuck finishing it off. But I must admit that it does look great and I’m glad he pushed the point. But let’s not tell him that!

Utility Room Transformation

The utility room was a nightmare with its uneven purple floor and a terrible blue door. Brett worked his magic, levelling the floor and using vinyl planks to breathe new life into the space. A fresh coat of paint and a thorough window cleaning later, it’s now a versatile room that could serve as an office, utility room, storage, or even a teenager’s retreat.

Toilet Renovation

The downstairs toilet was a horror story—old, dirty, and in dire need of an upgrade. With a new toilet from Bunnings, fresh paint, a ceiling installation (thanks Dad!), cleaned louvres (thanks Mum!) and conduit to cover the pipes, it is now a far cry from its previous state. No longer resembling something from an abandoned park, it now feels like a place I wouldn’t mind actually visiting.

The renovations in these rooms, along with the laundry, have injected much-needed usefulness into the space. Despite the sizable empty area with concrete pillars, what’s done is now the finished product for downstairs.

The journey to transform our downstairs area has been both challenging and fulfilling. These renovations have not only improved the aesthetics but have also created a more comfortable and inviting environment in our home. Here’s to turning the neglected into the cherished!
